The Year of the Book
It feels like my life has been revolving around “The Young Atheist’s Handbook” since I first conceived of it, back in the spring of 2009. It hasn’t taken this long to write, but it has taken this length of time for it to go from an idea to a real, physical book (although I have yet to hold an actual printed copy in my hands). I know I’ve been lucky and that it can take much longer for a writer to have his or her first book published, but it still feels like I’ve been waiting a long time to have this particular dream come true.
In just over seven weeks, I’ll be flying off to Australia, the first place the book will be available, to take part in the Perth Writers’ Festival. I’ll be staying in Australia for a couple of weeks, speaking about the book at events in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. I’ll post more details here when I have them.
I’m excited and nervous, and suspect that 2012 is very much going to be The Year of the Book. Can’t wait to see what the world is going to make of my baby.
