Teaching, Presenting and Public Speaking

I am, first and foremost, a teacher and teach part-time at a comprehensive school. I regularly give talks and “masterclasses” at other schools and can also help staff in need of help with their Physics teaching.

My events are entertaining and inspiring, as well as educational – they’re filled with audience interaction and fun activities. I have a variety of different events suitable for students from KS1 all the way up to KS4: everything from workshops based on my book Recipes for Wonder to my spectacular live science show, Science vs Magic, which can entertain the whole school community from students to teachers to parents. I am also happy to do bespoke events for schools to meet your precise needs. For details of costs, click here.

As well as giving talks at schools and universities, I’ve got extensive experience of public speaking at events ranging from science and book festivals to education conferences to comedy quiz nights. I’ve sold out the main tent at the Cheltenham Science Festival, lectured at The Royal Institution, and participated in book festivals and international events including the World Humanist Congress, the Perth Writers Festival and the Edinburgh Science Festival.

I’ve done some TV presenting for broadcast television as well as presenting numerous online videos and am available to write, produce and present talks, video, TV and radio programmes. Drop me a line if you think I’d be suitable for any project or event you’re organising, I’m always happy to chat.
